SAN FRANCISCO, Apr 30, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Mocana, a company that focuses on device and mobile security, announced today that Panasonic has agreed to bundle and pre-load Mocana's FIPS-certified Android security software on Panasonic's new line of midsized tablets. The Panasonic BizPad 7-inch and the Panasonic BizPad 10.1-inch tablets will come pre-loaded with Mocana VeloDAR(TM) Encryption software, the industry's most advanced data-at-rest encryption solution for Android.
While the Android OS has some built-in encryption capability, most enterprise customers require even more. Mocana's VeloDAR Encryption, which will be included on every Panasonic BizPad tablet, is a highly optimized data-at-rest (DAR) encryption solution that leverages Mocana's government-certified FIPS 140-2 Level 1 cryptographic engine, NanoCrypto(TM). VeloDAR is designed to extend and enhance Android OS data-at-rest encryption capabilities to create a truly secure platform, better suited for sensitive and mission-critical enterprise environments. Purpose-built for smartphone and tablet environments -- not just a port of PC software - VeloDAR is the most advanced data-at-rest security solution on the market for Android OEMs. VeloDAR features a FIPS 140-2 level 1 certified encryption engine with AES-CBC 128-bit or AES-XTS 256 bit cryptography.
VeloDAR Encryption is also the market's most-optimized and most efficient DAR encryption solution for Android: that means best-practices security while maintaining optimal performance and user experience. Battery life stays robust, devices stay fast, and the overall user experience remains excellent, even when security needs are at their highest. And VeloDAR's FIPS 140-2 level 1 certification means that device manufacturers like Panasonic can be confident that their device will meet even the most stringent of security requirements for consumers, enterprises, and government agencies worldwide.
The new Panasonic BizPads for Android are secure, ruggedized tablets designed for heavy usage in business, industrial and retail POS environments. The devices are specifically engineered to withstand G-shocks and drops, and are dust- and water-resistant. Both the 7-inch and the 10.1-inch BizPad models feature swappable battery packs, eliminating device downtime during charging, and have an integrated IC (smartcard) reader, standard, to enable strong two-factor authentication security.
"Panasonic's new BizPads are at the forefront of the midsize-tablet and enterprise BYOD trends," said Mocana Vice President of Market Development Kurt Stammberger. "But both of these trends are underlining a more fundamental enterprise requirement: mobile security. Mocana is proud to be built-in to the Panasonic BizPad, and you can look forward to even more new Android security features from Mocana, coming in Panasonic products, soon."
